The 9 skills 1.0 named, and the 8 more that arrived unannounced
Published · skill data as of 2026-10-26 · sources & flags
The 1.0 skill tree added 17 skills that the pre-Update-8 tree had no counterpart for. Keen Games' 1.0 changelog names 9 of them. The other 8 arrived with no 1.0 announcement at all — one was named six months earlier in Update 8's notes, and seven were named by no one. This is the full split, value by value, from the same rows our change list publishes.
The 9 the 1.0 changelog named
Eight arrived in a single sentence: "Added several new active and passive combat skills to the skill tree: Aerial Wand Attack, Wand Evasion Attack, Advanced Necromancy, Totem Mastery, Blast and Cast, Puncture, Barrage, Survival Instinct." A ninth got its own line at the center of the tree.
| Skill | Area | 1.0 values (per rank) |
|---|---|---|
| Wand Evasion Attack | Mage | 50 |
| Aerial Wand Attack | Mage | 25 |
| Totem Mastery | Mage | 1 → 2 → 3 |
| Advanced Necromancy | Mage | 1 → 2 → 3 |
| Blast and Cast | Mage | 50% / 10 |
| Puncture | Ranger | 10% → 20% → 30% |
| Barrage | Ranger | 15% → 30% → 45% |
| Survival Instinct | Ranger | 1/3 → 1/6 → 1/9 |
| Airborne Architect | Core | numeric value pending verification |
Airborne Architect is the one the changelog described in full: "enables building in a free-flying mode" — a core-area utility rather than a combat skill, which is also why its row still carries a value pending verification flag instead of numbers. The mage area took the largest share of named additions (five of nine): the two wand attacks plus the necromancy and totem line.
The 8 more that arrived unannounced
"Unannounced" needs one precision: one of the eight was announced — just not by 1.0. Strategic Maneuver (ranger, value 20) is named in the Update 8 changelog: "It offers players the option to dodge behind the enemy's back while it is locked as target and in melee distance." New against our pre-Update-8 baseline, but players had it for the six months before launch — so the 1.0 notes never mention it.
The remaining seven have no changelog line in either wave. Update 8's notes said "more than 20 new nodes" without listing them, so for these rows the only evidence is the crosswalk — no counterpart on the pre-Update-8 tree, per the 1.0 server files — and which wave added them stays unverified:
- Venomous Blades (ranger) — poison on your blades; numeric value pending
- Venom Mastery (ranger) — deepens the poison investment; numeric value pending
- Shrapnel Blast (ranger) — numeric value pending
- Echoing Explosives (ranger) — numeric value pending
- Martyr (warrior) — numeric value pending
- Heavy Hitter (warrior) — value 10%
- Unknown node (mage) — internal ID 1569371409, the tree's one nameless node; its data row reads 20/9/10% → 20/9/20% → 20/9/30%
The venom pair is the quiet headline of the whole group: those two unannounced nodes are what finally gave daggers a poison payoff — the Poison Dagger Assassin build is built around them.
Where they landed, by area
The named nine spread 5 mage / 3 ranger / 1 core (Puncture, Barrage and Survival Instinct are the ranger three; Airborne Architect sits alone at the core). The remaining eight tilt the other way — 4 ranger (both venom nodes plus the two explosive skills), 2 warrior (Martyr, Heavy Hitter) and 1 mage (the Unknown node), plus Strategic Maneuver in the ranger area. The ranger area took the largest single share of additions overall, which fits what else 1.0 did there: the dagger line moved into its assassin cluster at the same time.
Zoom out and the 17 sit inside the change list's three counters — 17 new, 7 moved, 207 carried, 231 rows in total. New means no pre-Update-8 counterpart; moved means a changelog says so; carried is everything else, flagged pending a value-level diff rather than dressed up as verified change.
Why the split looks like this
The counting baseline matters. "New" here means: no counterpart on the pre-Update-8 tree — so the 17 span both change waves, split by which changelog (if either) names each skill. 9 named by 1.0 + 1 named by Update 8 + 7 named by nobody = 17. A skill counts as moved only when a changelog says so (the dagger line's six skills, plus Double Jump); everything else is carried over — 207 rows.
One subtlety the tables inherit from the method: the change list tracks the tree against both pre-1.0 baselines — the pre-Update-8 early-access tree and the Update 8 tree that replaced it — because 1.0 launched on top of Update 8's rebuild. A skill can be old news to Update 8 players and brand new to anyone returning from earlier access, and the rows carry both truths rather than averaging them into one date.
Every row in the tables above keeps its evidence on the change list: the verbatim changelog quote where one exists, the server-file crosswalk where none does, and a flag whenever a value or a wave assignment is still pending — never a guess dressed as a fact. The method, and every open flag, is documented on the data sources page.
