TL;DR
The group's wall: Tower and Warden reduce incoming damage, Heavy Plates and Shiny Plates multiply your armor, and Power Parry plus the new Martyr node turn blocked hits into party value. One-Handed Specialization keeps real damage on the table while everything else on the route makes you harder to kill. In co-op you hold everything; solo you're slow but nearly unkillable.

Attribute points: Constitution 6 · Strength 1
Stat priority
- Constitution — max health and the tank cluster's main stat
- Armor and damage reduction — the multiplier nodes (Heavy/Shiny Plates, Tower, Warden) stack
- Strength — enough to keep one-handed damage relevant
- Endurance — blocking and sprinting with aggro drains stamina fast
Recommended weapons
Grounded in verified 1.0 changes (armor set conversions, gem buffs) rather than datamined damage tables — our weapons database is still being verified.
| Slot | Early | Mid | Endgame |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weapon 1 | Any crafted one-handed sword/axe/mace from the tier-1 warrior sets | Revelwood-tier one-hander; armor perks over damage perks | Nomad Highlands-tier one-hander upgraded at the crafting survivor, with survivability or lifesteal-line perks |
Martyr and Heavy Hitter are new 1.0 nodes on the live tree; equipment upgrades exist since Update 8.
Recommended armor
- Heavy plate lines from the warrior crafting survivor — this build multiplies them
- After the 1.0 armor rework each tier has a craftable heavy set (official changelog); prioritize armor and health perks
Food & consumables
- Health-scaled meals constantly — you're the one taking hits
- Stamina food for long block-sprint-block phases while holding aggro
Gear progression
Early (levels 1–10)
Constitution Spark → Warrior's Path → Heavy Plates. Armor multipliers first — they make early content trivial.
Mid (levels 10–30)
Shiny Plates, Power Parry from the core, Tower and Warden, first Constitution pips. Add Battle Heal when you start doing group content.
BiS (levels 30–50)
Absorb 3, Soul Leech 3, Earth Aura 3, Martyr. Nemesis (a short branch away) is the flex damage node if your group needs more output.
Playstyle
Face everything: body-block doorways, parry the heavy swings (Power Parry pays you back), and keep Earth Aura covering the melee pile. Use the Special Ability as your aggro button, Battle Heal and Soul Leech to top yourself between swings, and Martyr — new in 1.0 — when a party member is about to die on your watch. Against bosses, your job is positioning: turn the boss away from the group and eat the frontal cone so nobody else has to.
Strengths & weaknesses
Strengths
- Genuinely hard to kill once the plate multipliers stack
- Holds aggro and space for squishier damage classes — the co-op force multiplier
- Cheap core nodes (most rank-3 lines cost 1 point per rank)
Weaknesses
- Slow solo kill speed — you win by attrition
- Damage falls off hard versus the two-handed line
- Block timing matters; mashing block against heavy attacks breaks your stamina
Synergies & counters
- Radiant Healer + Warden is the immortal core of any co-op group
- Bow ranger and fire mage both multiply in value when someone else is being hit
What counters this build
Mana burn and armor-shredding effects cut through your stacking; burst that out-damages Battle Heal forces potions. Solo, swarms simply take a while — that's the trade.
Level-by-level skill order
Suggested unlock order for the 67-point target — follow it roughly; the exact pace depends on how many Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells you've found (they fund the same pool of points).

When NOT to pick this build
- You play mostly solo and value kill speed
- Your party is all melee already
- You find holding-still gameplay boring — this build IS the holding still
FAQ
Can you tank in Enshrouded 1.0?
Yes — there's no formal taunt, but the warrior area's Tower, Warden, Absorb and Soul Leech cluster plus the plate multipliers make a Constitution-stacked character extremely durable, and Earth Aura extends defense to nearby allies. You hold aggro by being the thing in front, and the new 1.0 Martyr node adds a party-save button.
One-handed or two-handed for a tank?
One-handed keeps the defensive cluster on-route (this build) and pairs with the parry toolkit; two-handed (Barbarian's Path + Titan Edge) trades tank nodes for damage. Both unlock a Special Ability [R] via their Specialization node.
What's the cheapest way to fix a wrong pick on this build?
In game, respec at a Flame Altar — it costs 1 Rune per spent skill point per the official wiki, and it's all-at-once (the whole tree resets). Free alternative: plan and re-plan here in the planner, where refunds cost nothing.
