TL;DR

A pure bow build that stacks critical chance (Sniper, Fatal Precision) on top of Marksman's flat ranged damage and Skill Shot's weak-point bonus. Sustains itself with stamina orbs and Blessed Arrows mana, so you almost never stop shooting, and a light dip into the assassin side adds backstab damage and Dexterity scaling.

Stat priority

  1. Dexterity — +5% bow and dagger damage per point (highest damage-per-point on the tree)
  2. Critical chance — Sniper and Fatal Precision multiply everything else
  3. Endurance — enough stamina to kite and re-position between volleys
  4. A splash of Constitution for surviving melee range in the Shroud

Recommended weapons

Grounded in verified 1.0 changes (armor set conversions, gem buffs) rather than datamined damage tables — our weapons database is still being verified.

Specific named BiS bows ship with the weapons database (in progress) — the skill plan below is complete and verified against the 1.0 tree.

Recommended armor

  • Marksman set — converted to Revelwood loot-chest drops in 1.0 (official changelog)
  • Sharpshooter set — Nomad Highlands loot-chest drops (official changelog)
  • Craftable ranged combat sets — one per ranger tier after the 1.0 armor rework (official changelog)

Food & consumables

  • Sweets for stamina regeneration — boosted further if you pick Sweet Tooth
  • Farm produce once your homestead is running (1.0 sped up farm animals considerably)
  • Fill every food slot — Dessert Stomach adds an extra one if you route through the ranger area

Gear progression

Early (levels 1–15)

Ranger hub → Marksman ranks → first Dexterity pips. Raw damage first; crit nodes come online when you can actually hit weak points.

Mid (levels 15–30)

Sniper, Skill Shot, Fatal Precision — the crit triangle. Bow Specialization the moment you can pay 3 points. Add Vitality Surge for stamina flow.

BiS (levels 30–50)

Multi Shot chain, Blessed Arrows, Veiled Vigor, final Dexterity pips. Swap into Marksman/Sharpshooter loot sets as you clear Revelwood and Nomad Highlands chests.

Playstyle

Fight at maximum range, zoomed with Eagle Eye. Open on weak points (heads, exposed hearts) to fish for Skill Shot crits, then keep a steady cadence — Vitality Surge and Swiftshot Sustenance refund the stamina you spend re-positioning. Against groups, let Multi Shot flurries carry the damage; against bosses, keep special arrows rolling and use the bow Special Ability on cooldown. If you have a spare point, Strategic Maneuver (new in 1.0, one node beyond the assassin dip) lets you dodge behind locked targets — use it to reset distance instead of rolling straight back into a projectile.

Strengths & weaknesses

Strengths

  • Top-tier single-target damage against bosses and elites
  • Excellent self-sustain — stamina and mana both feed off crits
  • Safe playstyle: kill most things before it reaches you
  • Cheap entry — core nodes cost 1–2 points each

Weaknesses

  • Weak point-blank; a missed dodge against melee packs hurts
  • Ammo logistics — special arrows need crafting/restock (eternal arrows help late)
  • Depends on landing weak-point hits for full crit consistency

Synergies & counters

  • Pairs with a melee tank in co-op — you are the damage while they hold aggro
  • Bounty Bonanza (nearby in the tree) adds group XP after headshot kills if you often play with friends

What counters this build

Fast-closing melee packs (Scavenger rushes) and projectiles you can't out-range — burst them down with Multi Shot before they close, or kite through doorways. Flying enemies are a damage check: Eagle's Bane exists one node away if a specific boss fights dirty.

Level-by-level skill order

Suggested unlock order for the 60-point target — follow it roughly; the exact pace depends on how many Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells you've found (they fund the same pool of points).

Recommended gems

  • Gem of Toxic Reaction — buffed hard in 1.0 (+21% dps at level 10 up to +65% at level 50, official changelog)
  • Any critical-strike gem on the bow; avoid Gem of Battle Mania / Gem of Obsession for ranged — both had stats lowered in 1.0

When NOT to pick this build

  • You dislike kiting or managing ammo
  • Your party needs a frontliner or healer more than a turret
  • You play mostly in tight interiors where range doesn't pay off

FAQ

Is bow ranger still good in Enshrouded 1.0?

Yes — nothing in the 1.0 or Update 8 notes nerfed ranged damage, and the ranger area gained Multi Shot upgrades plus Strategic Maneuver for repositioning. The crit pipeline (Sniper + Fatal Precision + Skill Shot) is intact on the live tree.

What armor should a bow ranger wear in 1.0?

After the 1.0 armor rework, the Marksman set drops from Revelwood loot chests and the Sharpshooter set from Nomad Highlands chests, while each tier also has a craftable ranged set. Prioritize crit and dexterity perks.

How many points does this build need?

The full allocation listed here costs well under the 212-point endgame budget, leaving room for Double Jump, gliding skills or more attribute pips from the core area.
